Our Irish Leaving Certificate program in France is designed for students aged 15–17. This immersive experience combines French lessons, specialised exam preparation classes, and engaging cultural activities to boost your language skills and confidence.

French Lessons

Each week, students attend 20 French lessons (15 hours) taught by qualified and experienced teachers specialised in French as a Foreign Language (FLE). Our interactive classes emphasize practical language skills, such as speaking exercises, listening practice, and dynamic role-playing. Lessons take place in classrooms in the center of Biarritz, providing an ideal learning environment that boosts confidence and fluency in everyday French.

Specialised lessons

Students will attend 6 specialised lessons (4.5 hours per week) tailored to prepare them for the Irish Leaving Certificate exam. These classes focus on mastering the exam format, building confidence, and enhancing performance through targeted practice.

Surf and activities in Biarritz

Experience two surf sessions per week, led by certified surf instructors along the stunning beaches of Biarritz – one of the world’s premier surfing destinations. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced surfer, you’ll build confidence riding the Atlantic waves while refining your technique.

Besides surfing, immerse yourself in local Basque culture with one weekly activities. Take part in an introduction to Basque pelota or explore the interactive exhibits at the Cité de l’Océan, while making new friends and practicing your French in real-life situations.

Half board accommodation with host family

Living with a host family allows a full cultural immersion, letting students practice their French in daily life. Students typically share a room with other participants, promoting friendship and language practice. Half board includes two healthy meals daily – breakfast and dinner – giving participants a taste of authentic French cuisine while engaging in meaningful conversation around the table.

GOOD TO KNOW: Safety, 24/7 Support, and Transfers

The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. Each participant receives an 24/7 emergency number, ensuring round-the-clock support for any questions or concerns. A nightly curfew – 11:00 p.m. on weekdays and 1:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays – promote safety and adherence to program guidelines.

The host family provides arrival and departure transfers to and from Biarritz Airport or Biarritz Train Station, ensuring a seamless start and end to the student’s stay.

Students generally use public transportation to travel between host families, classrooms, and activity locations, encouraging independence and group bonding. Although tickets aren’t included, activity leaders help you purchase them on the first day.
